Laura Knox is Chief Operating Officer of M Q Services Ltd., Wakefield Quin’s Corporate Service Provider licensed by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
Laura sits on a number of exempted company boards as non-executive director and is particularly familiar with incorporations and governance and regulatory requirements, including to comply with Economic Substance, Beneficial Ownership, and Common Reporting Standards, for Bermuda and Cayman Islands structures.
Laura holds a strong knowledge of investment funds, has extensive experience in fund administration, and prior to joining Bermuda’s Wakefield Quin group in 2015 as Head of Director Services, held the position of Associate Director at DMS Governance (now Waystone) in the Cayman Islands from 2012, where she provided governance services to a wide range of Cayman investment structures. Starting in 2004, Laura spent seven years working with two leading Cayman Islands fund administrators, followed by one year as part of Deloitte Chicago’s Alternative Assets assurance practice where she audited ETFs, private equity and hedge funds.
Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with Grant Thornton in Canada in 2003, Laura holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration; is a member of Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Bermuda, Chair of the Education and Events Committee of Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Bermuda, is an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), 100 Women in Finance, the Institute of Directors (IoD) Bermuda, is a registered director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), and a member of the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) Asset Management Working Group. Laura volunteers as Trustee and Board Secretary of the Menuhin Foundation of Bermuda and is an active member of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club.
