Alex is a Director in the Corporate Department at Wakefield Quin, having joined the firm in March 2021.
His practice encompasses all aspects of corporate and commercial law in Bermuda, with particular experience in M&A, debt and equity financing, listings and secondary issues, and corporate governance matters. Alex has experience acting for a diverse client base including start-ups, owner-managed businesses, global corporations, financial institutions, and private equity sponsors.
Experience
Alex has significant experience in the Bermuda (re)insurance sector, regularly advising (re)insurers and intermediaries on licensing, transactional, regulatory, and governance matters. Much of his work in Bermuda also involves advising multinational corporations on cross-border transactions alongside onshore counsel based primarily in London and New York.
Prior to joining Wakefield Quin, Alex was an associate at Onside Law, a Band 1-ranked sports law boutique in London, where he advised sports clubs, governing bodies, and agencies on a range of corporate and commercial transactions. Before that, he trained at Bristows LLP, London and qualified into the firm’s corporate department, where he gained substantial experience advising on M&A transactions, spinouts, equity investments and corporate governance arrangements.
Qualifications and admissions
Alex holds a BSc (Hons) Biochemistry from The University of Nottingham. He subsequently completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School, London. He was called to the Bermuda Bar in December 2023.
