Wakefield Quin Limited successfully represented the respondents on the Minister’s appeal of an immigration tribunal ruling.  The case confirmed that the respondents, who were naturalised permanent residents in Bermuda, were able to apply for Bermudian status.  The judgment set an important precedent for permanent residents who were living in Bermuda in 1989, along with certain of their children born since 1989.  The decision is believed to affect the rights of approximately 1,500 people.

Peter Sanderson represented the respondents in the proceedings.
