Stevens v The Governor & The Deputy Governor

Posted by: Anita Yates
Category: Deals & Cases

Wakefield Quin Limited successfully represented the plaintiff, who had applied for judicial review of the Governor’s decision to refuse to naturalise him on the basis that the Governor had wrongly formed the view that a spouse of a Bermudian has restrictions on how long he may remain in Bermuda and so is ineligible to be naturalised. The Supreme Court held no such restrictions applied, meaning that such a spouse would normally be eligible to naturalise.

Peter Sanderson represented the applicant in the proceedings.
